Mets Player Traded Mid-Game, Cries On The Field, Trade Falls Through

A baseball player being traded mid-game isn’t the most common thing in the world, but it’s happened before.  Usually, when this happens, the player is immediately pulled out of the game to ensure that they don’t get injured before heading off to join their new team.

Last night around 9PM, numerous news outlets started reporting that the New York Mets had dealt Wilmer Flores to the Milwaukee Brewers.  Flores was in the game at shortstop against the Padres when the news hit social media, but he was not pulled out!  In fact, the next time he came to the plate, he got a nice ovation from the fans, who no doubt already knew he was headed to Milwaukee.  Flores then came back on to the field and took his place at shortstop.  At that point, he was in on the news and was obviously upset about the trade, as tears were visible.  Flores has been in the Mets organization since he was 16 years old.

And now, the craziest part of the whole story.  There was no trade!  It fell through at the last minute!
