Tom Coughlin Makes Eli Manning Cry At His Final Giants Press Conference (Video)

After a long and storied career, NFL coach Tom Coughlin has decided to resign. Coughlin, who had been the head coach of the New York Giants since 2004, lead the Giants to two Super Bowl victories, going 102-90 in the process. Before the Giants, he coached the Jacksonville Jaguars, leading them to two AFC Championship games.

Yesterday, Coughlin gave a final, emotional speech, in which he said he was more nervous for that speech than any other interview he had given before. The one person who found it the most emotional wasn’t Coughlin, but Giants’ quarterback Eli Manning, who was spotted crying during the speech.

One can see why this was emotional to Manning because Coughlin had been his only head coach during his NFL career, but athletes crying is almost always funny. If only they could’ve put a mic in Manning’s face so they could get a Mike Schmidt-like soundbite.

Also of note from the press conference, when Coughlin was all done at the podium, he made a quick exit, walking right past his former boss, Giants owner John Mara, without hesitation.  So he resigned? Suuuuuuure.
