There’s that one restaurant in every town that everyone insists serves roadkill. You know the place. It’s a little dirty. It stinks when you walk inside. It’s the only part of town where you NEVER see a stray animal. Well, China Fun in Concord, NC appears to be that restaurant.
While out driving on Sunday afternoon, a Concord woman noticed people stop and pick up a dead deer off the side of the road and throw it in their car. The car was familiar to her, though. She recognized it as the car that had delivered food to her house before from a local Chinese food restaurant, China Fun. She followed the car as it drove back to the restaurant, backed up to the back door and unloaded the deer, bringing it into the restaurant. The woman called the police, who then turned the case over to the Cabarrus County Health Department.
After an investigation, the County Health Director said that the deer was not slaughtered INSIDE the restaurant and that there was no cross-contamination, so the restaurant would remain open. And basically, there’s nothing that can be done. So that’s gross.
