Mitt Romney gave a speech yesterday where he ripped into Donald Trump big time. It was vicious, it was personal, it was thorough and let’s be honest, it’s not going to make a damn bit of difference.
Trump was on the campaign trail in Portland, Maine yesterday, and spent a chunk of his time responding to Romney’s takedown. He didn’t really address any of Mitt’s points. He just endlessly insulted him.
He talked about how Mitt groveled for his endorsement in 2012: “He was begging for my endorsement. I could have said, ‘Mitt, drop to your knees‘ and he would have dropped to his knees.”
Trump mostly hit on Mitt’s failure to defeat President Obama in 2012. But he also said Mitt “chickened out” of running again this year…because of Trump, of course.
He also said he once held a fundraiser for Mitt on a rainy day, and wondered if he should send him a bill for a rug that got ruined. What?!
He also attacked Romney on Twitter, saying, “Failed candidate Mitt Romney, who ran one of the worst races in presidential history, is working with the establishment to bury a big ‘R’ win!”
