It seems like we can’t go a day without seeing news stories about credit card skimmers being discovered at banks or in stores, scamming people out of crazy amounts of money. The news stories usually show the skimmers after they’ve been found and uninstalled, but it’s pretty rare that we actually get to see the criminal on video setting them up. If you’re like us, you probably assumed that the process was a bit more complicated than the man in this video made it look!
Watch below as what appears to be a team of criminals installs a skimmer at a a convenience store. While one (or possibly two) member(s) of the team distracts the clerk, another guy sneaks up from behind and places the skimmer. It appears to just sit directly over the normal credit card swiper and takes less than three seconds to install! Who knew that it was that easy to rip people off?!
