Let’s be honest here…watching track and field events is not very entertaining. Watching people run around a track is pretty boring. But in the case of this 4×400 at Saturday’s Irish University Athletics Association intervarsity games, the race was anything but boring!
The first few laps, meh. Nothing to write home about. But if you cue in around the 3 minute mark, you’ll see that one runner close to the back of the pack was determined to not let the sluggish pace of her teammates who came before her seal her fate in last place. The announcer referred to her as coming back “from the depths of hell,” and there really couldn’t be a better description!
