Reeling in a massive fish is already difficult, but not having the correct bait makes it even more difficult…or so we thought! Recently, a man in St. Petersburg, Florida proved that you don’t need high tech gear to pull in a big catch.
Ryan Hein finally decided to use his 11mm wrench that he never had any other use for. He took the wrench and tied it together with two other big fish hooks, making himself a very unique looking lure. He posted a picture of it to Facebook last week as a joke. But that joke paid off!
The next day while about 30 miles offshore, he dropped his new lure in the water. And within minutes, he was reeling in a MASSIVE grouper…like 400 pounds massive! So essentially, Ryan caught a 400-pound fish with a freakin’ wrench that was just taking up space in his toolbox!
He jumped in the water, retrieved the wrench and let the fish go. Ryan says that he even caught a few more fish that day with the wrench. So who knows…maybe this will start a new trend in the fishing industry!
