Bruce Springsteen Covers Prince’s ‘Purple Rain’ In Brooklyn (Video)

It’s been a hell of a year for tributes to those in the music industry who have passed away.

Bruce Springsteen’s The River tour rolled into Brooklyn on Saturday night and the Boss once again paid tribute to another fallen comrade.  Back in January, Springsteen covered David Bowie’s Rebel Rebel just days after Bowie’s passing.  Just a few days later after the passing of Glenn Frey, the Boss paid tribute by covering Take It Easy.  And on Saturday night, he was back at it, but this time in full-on Prince mode, after Prince’s sudden passing on Thursday.  He opened his show in Brooklyn with a cover of Prince’s Purple Rain.

It’s always great to see artists cover the material of others, but the circumstances surrounding Springsteen’s recent string of covers definitely sucks.
