So when you send your kid off to school, you just assume that they’re going somewhere to learn and that they’re going to get a good education. You also assume that your kid doesn’t have as much knowledge on the subject that the teacher is there to teach…because why would the teacher be there if they didn’t know their stuff…right? For one teacher in Houston, that’s not exactly the case.
After the French teacher with 25 years of experience was removed from campus due to a dispute in December, a new French teacher was brought in to teach the class. Unfortunately, that new French teacher didn’t speak French at all. The extent of his French knowledge came from just one year of French class when he was in high school! Students say that he can pretty much muster up a “Bonjour!” and that’s about it.
For what it’s worth, the old French teacher was eventually allowed back on campus, but in a different building, and is essentially on full-time hall duty.
So someone who doesn’t speak French is teaching French. And everyone wonders why kids aren’t learning!
