A Man And His Dog Save A Dying Hummingbird (Video)

Ready for a big dose of “Awwww!” to fill your heart?  Well, you’ve come to the right place!

About a year ago, Ed Gernon adopted a basically feral shepherd named Rex.  Rex was pretty much a killing machine, attacking other animals and even killing cats.  But then, something crazy happened.  While out on a walk, Rex spotted a hummingbird on the ground that was basically dead.  It had no feathers and was covered with ants.  Instead of attacking the bird or eating it, Rex instead would not leave the it’s side.  So Gernon scooped the bird up and brought it home.

After a very long recovery, the bird, now known as “Hummer,” is now doing great!  Gernon feeds the bird by hand every 15 minutes and even taught it to fly again with the use of a hair dryer!  And the bird has free reign of the house.  In fact, Gernon said that he even leaves the windows open since it’s mating season, expecting that Hummer will fly away to mate.  But nope!  Hummer’s not going anywhere!
