Mets Pitcher Bartolo Colon Hits His First Major League Home Run (Video)

On Saturday, New York Mets pitcher Bartolo Colon did something that he had never done in his 19-year-long Major League Baseball career.  Being a pitcher, he doesn’t exactly concentrate on swinging the bat too much.  But everything came together on Saturday when San Diego Padres pitcher James Shields served up a 90MPH fastball to Colon, who quickly jumped on it, sending it over the left field fence!

The announcers went crazy.  Colon’s teammates gave him the silent treatment, heading up the tunnel to the clubhouse before finally returning after he made his way back to the dugout.  And baseball card company Topps has even immortalized the moment already, using an image from Colon’s at bat on their newest card!
