One Year Later: David Letterman Reflects On His Retirement And Women On Late Night TV (Video)

More than a year has passed since late night TV legend David Letterman stepped away from his long tenure at The Late Show. In an interview with Tom Brokaw, Letterman explains how his life and his perspectives have changed in the time since his departure from TV. Unless you’re living under a rock, or under 30 and don’t know what this “tee vee” thing is, you’ve probably seen his post-show beard, his drunken ESPN appearances or his sporadic cameos. But in this interview, he opens up about how his personal life and his goals have evolved in the past year.

Brokaw asks him about his exit from the show, too. Letterman says he didn’t have a role in CBS’ decision for a replacement. He’s happy that Colbert has had success, but wonders why they didn’t opt for a woman, like Samantha Bee, another former correspondent from The Daily Show who hosts the successful show Full Frontal on TBS.

Whatever he’s up to, we’re glad he’s finally getting some time to relax, spend time with his family and enjoy retired life…especially after dealing with guests like this.
