When you BASE jump, there are key pieces of equipment. Obviously, you need a parachute. That’s definitely the most important. But a very close second, according to this instructor, is leg straps. The leg straps keep the jumper from sliding out of the parachute after they jump. So yeah. Pretty important.
In the video below, this instructor is conducting a class on a bridge when, at the last second, sees that one of his students is about to jump without his leg straps in place. He pulls the guy back over the railing, just seconds before he would have jumped to his certain death. He saved this man’s life…no doubt about it.
