Just a note for all of the comedians out there. It’s one thing to work politics into your act, but it’s another thing all together when you simply lecture people in attendance at your show about who to vote for.
Amy Schumer was doing a show in Tampa on Sunday and things got political, but not in the funny way. Schumer is pretty liberal, so it’s not surprise that she’s anti-Trump. And she started bashing people who were planning on voting for him. She even pulled someone from the audience up on stage who said he was voting for Trump just to ask him to explain himself. But it wasn’t done in the form of well-crafted jokes at all. It was just Amy Schumer ranting for five minutes about Donald Trump. Not surprisingly, about 200 people got up and left the show.
And tickets to see Schumer aren’t cheap, either. Depending on the size of the arena, they can be anywhere from $50 to $250!
Please, stick to jokes. Save your political rants for Twitter. No one is paying to hear them.
