It seems as though there’s been the discussion on how to “fix” hockey for YEARS. Hockey TV ratings here in the states are pretty much non-existent when compared to the other major sports. And when the topic came up on Bill Simmons’ HBO show Any Given Wednesday, comedian Bill Burr and NHL Hall of Famer Wayne Gretzky broke it down a bit.
Burr said that he didn’t think that there was anything specifically wrong with hockey and he hates when people say that they need to take the fighting out of the sport. He also said that to reach mass appeal like football, they’d need to start wearing pink and having Katy Perry perform at the games. Gretzky laughed, saying that he couldn’t imagine the Flyers or Bruins ever doing such a thing.
