Congrats again to the Chicago Cubs for their World Series win! Everyone from fans to the players are very emotional about the historic win. During a celebration parade, Cubs’ first baseman Anthony Rizzo got choked up about his relationship with catcher David Ross, who announced his retirement. Rizzo stated that Ross means a lot to him and has taught him so much. Rizzo said, “He taught me personally how to be a winner. He’s like a brother to me.” He said that heart-warming statement while he started to tear about with all of the found memories of the past seasons.
Moments like this really show the human side of sports and just how close that these players get to one another. They live, learn and grow as a team, and that’s what sports are half about. The other half is, of course, winning. So next time you are watching a sporting event, keep in mind just how close these players are to each other and just how much they mean to one another.
