On December 23rd at around 12:05 a.m., police received a report of an intoxicated driver in a minivan. Police located a vehicle matching the description at 2803 Deadwood Avenue. Police made contact with the driver, identified as 22-year-old Trisha Barkley of Rapid City. Police noticed the smell of an alcoholic beverage coming from Barkley’s person, as well as the smell of marijuana. Police also observed a half-full alcoholic beverage containing on the driver’s floorboard of the vehicle. Barkley was asked to step out the vehicle which she did, but continued to become increasingly uncooperative with police. She was placed under arrest for DUI. While being walked over to the officer’s patrol vehicle she kicked the officer. She was placed in the patrol vehicle and transported to the Pennington County Jail. Jail staff recovered a baggie of marijuana from her person. All-in-all, Barkley was arrested for DUI, Simple Assault on Law Enforcement, Open Container in a Motor Vehicle, and Possession of Marijuana.
