Car vs. Pedestrian Accident

On January 18th around 8:35 p.m., police were dispatched to the bridge over the intersection of Lacrosse Street and Interstate-90 for a report of a car vs. pedestrian accident that had just occurred. On arrival, police located the pedestrian who was unconscious. Medical arrived and transported the pedestrian to Rapid City Regional Hospital for treatment of serious, life-threatening injuries. On further investigation, police determined the pedestrian was attempting to cross Lacrosse Street when he was struck by a northbound passenger vehicle.  Police located an open liquor container on the pedestrian’s person and the investigation indicates he was intoxicated as he entered into the flow of traffic. The driver of the vehicle showed no signs of impairment. The accident remains under investigation.
