Suspect arrested in connection with Dakota Rose Inn homicide

Police have arrested 25-year-old Nathan Chase Jr. of Rapid City in connection with the homicide investigation at 212 E. Boulevard North.

The investigation began on January 23rd at around 7:50 p.m. when police were dispatched to 212 E. Blvd. North for a report of a stabbing. On arrival, police located an unconscious, unresponsive subject in one of the rooms at the address. The victim had multiple stab wounds. A medical unit arrived and the victim was declared deceased on scene.

The deceased is identified as 30-year-old Jeremy Little of Rapid City.

After speaking to witnesses, police determined the suspect had left the area prior to law enforcement arrival on scene. Police began searching the area, and later located a subject matching the suspect’s description. Police identified the subject as Nathan Chase Jr., and after further investigation, police placed Chase under arrest for Second Degree Murder.

“This is the RCPD’s fourth homicide investigation in 30 days,” says Chief of Police Karl Jegeris. “While I find that number staggering, I’m extremely proud of our officers, personnel, and assisting agencies that have taken on the increased workload in stride. It’s important to note that all suspects involved in each of these homicides have been arrested. While there’s plenty of work still left to be done, our dedicated public servants remain committed to standing watch over Rapid City each and every day.”

The investigation into the homicide is being led by the Rapid City Police Department, with assistance from the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office.  The case is being handed off to the Pennington County State’s Attorney’s office for prosecution, and all further inquiries into the case will be referred to their office.
