Weapons Call

At around 4:30 p.m. on February 5th, police responded to the parking lot of 1707 Eglin Street for a weapons call. Police made contact with a male victim. He told police he was walking through the parking lot with his daughter when a tan minivan almost struck his daughter. This prompted an exchange of words, when the driver of the van pulled out a black firearm and pointed it at the victim and his daughter. The van’s driver fired several BBs from the handgun before driving out of the parking lot. Police called out the vehicle description over the radio. The vehicle was located and a traffic stop was conducted on the van. It pulled into the parking lot of 300 6th Street before coming to a stop. Police made contact with the driver, identified as 23-year-old Randi Steele of Rapid City. Police observed a black BB gun on the floor by the driver’s seat. On further investigation. Randi was placed under arrest for two counts of Aggravated Assault and two Warrants. She was transported to the Pennington County Jail.
