Woman Names Her Baby After The Two Police Officers Who Helped Deliver It (Video)

36-year-old Vanessa Prado of San Diego went into labor last Thursday morning, about a month before she was due.  And she couldn’t make it to the hospital in time.  Her boyfriend started driving her.  But they had to pull over in a post office parking lot a few blocks from their house and call 911.

Police officers Matt Enderlin and Eric Hustad were close by and showed up in less than two minutes, taking over for Pardo’s boyfriend once they arrived.  Matt delivered the baby while Eric held Vanessa’s hand.  And she gave birth to a healthy six-pound baby boy named Pierce.

But here’s the cool part.  She decided to pay tribute to them by making his middle name “Merick,” a combination of their names, Matt and Eric.

The two officers have been partners for about eight years and say this was definitely one of the most memorable shifts they’ve ever had.
