At around 3:40 a.m., police responded to 330 E. Omaha Street for a report of a vehicle that had crashed into the building at that address. Police made contact with the driver, identified as 18-year-old Zachary Flood, who was heavily intoxicated at the time. Flood was placed under arrest for DUI, Open Container in a Motor Vehicle, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Underage Consumption of Alcohol, and No Proof of Insurance. It appears the vehicle travelled from the parking lot at 118 Waterloo Street and drove through the open field, before colliding with the building at 330 E. Omaha Street. Police also located a severely injured individual near 118 Waterloo Street who was transported via ambulance to Rapid City Regional Hospital. Police are investigating this as an assault potentially related to the driver involved in the crash. Police continue to investigate.
