Rapid City police investigate deceased subject located in Rapid Creek

On April 16th at around 6:30 p.m., a Rapid City police officer was conducting an extra patrol along the bike path when they were flagged down by a subject who informed the officer about a body seen in Rapid Creek. The subject informed police of the deceased subject’s location. Police located the body in the water behind 1400 Campbell Street.

 Police secured the scene and alerted the Rapid City/Pennington County Dive Team to assist in recovering the body from the water. The RCPD Evidence Team and RCPD/PCSO Criminal Investigations Division were also called to assist in the investigation.

 The deceased has been identified as 28-year-old Tyler Thomas Claymore of Rapid City.

 Preliminary stages of the investigation, including an autopsy, have turned up no signs of foul play related to the unattended death. This remains an open, active joint investigation with the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office. Further determination of a cause of death is pending a toxicology screening.
