Three Pennington County Businesses Fail Alcohol Compliance Check

On Thursday evening, April 13, 2017, the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office conducted alcohol compliance checks in the Highway 16 and Hill City areas. A total of 14 establishments were checked.

Three businesses failed and sold alcohol to underage informants: BJ’s Country Store at 13620 S. Highway 16, Rapid City; Country Store at the Forks, located at 23820 US-385, Hill City; and Slate Creek Grill, 158 Museum Drive, Hill City.

The employee received a citation for furnishing alcohol to a minor and provided a court date. A letter regarding the check and violation has been sent to the business owner. Furnishing alcohol to a minor is a class 2 misdemeanor punishable by 30 days in jail, $500 fine, or both.

The following 11 businesses were in compliance:

  2. Putz n’ Glo – 23694 Stratosphere Lane, Rapid City
  3. The Gaslight – 13490 Main Street, Rapid City
  4. Black Hills Miner Brewing Company – 23845 US-385, Hill City
  5. Naked Winery – 23851 US-385, Hill City
  6. Heart of the Hills Exxon – 201 Main Street, Hill City
  7. Alpine Inn – 133 E. Main Street, Hill City
  8. Mangy Moose – 240 E. Main Street, Hill City
  9. Bumpin’ Buffalo Bar & Grill – 245 Main Street, Hill City
  10. Heart of the West Conoco – 632 Main Street, Hill City
  11. Krull’s Market – 531 E. Main Street, Hill City

The Pennington County Sheriff is committed to excellence in public safety and protecting the youth from underage consumption of alcohol. Since January 1, 2017, four Pennington County businesses have failed alcohol compliance checks by selling alcohol to minors.
