Fight

On May 30th around 11:15 p.m., police were dispatched to a residence in the area of E. Signal Drive and Kellogg Place for a report of two males fighting in a yard. On arrival, police spoke with witnesses who informed them the men were last seen walking east. Witnesses described them as highly intoxicated and said the two men were attempting to fight other individuals they came across. As police worked to locate the men, they were alerted by more witnesses that the men had entered the roadway and were attempting to fight with drivers of passing vehicles. Police finally located the men in the backyard of a residence in the 100 block of Crescent Drive. The males were identified as 31-year old Mitchell Long and 25-year-old Vincent Long, both of Rapid City. The men were ordered to get on the ground but they refused to comply with officer commands. Vincent began to approach a chain link fence. As the officer tried to stop him from climbing over the fence in an effort to escape, Vincent attempted to kick the officer in the face. Once he cleared the fence, Vincent continued to ignore officer commands to stop. After the officer successfully used his Taser to bring Vincent to the ground, he was placed in handcuffs. An assisting officer was able to get Mitchell in handcuffs. A medical unit was called to evaluate Vincent. Ultimately, both men were placed under arrest for Disorderly Conduct and transported to the Pennington County Jail.
