Traffic Stop

On 6/13/17 at approximately 0050 hours, an officer initiated a traffic stop in downtown Rapid City.  The vehicle fled, and a short pursuit ensued.  The vehicle pursuit came to an end when the driver turned into the downtown parking ramp, came to a stop, and then immediately fled on foot.  The driver was located and arrested near the intersection of 5th St and Omaha.  The driver was identified as Hawk Chavez, age 26 of Rapid City.  There was a female passenger who remained in the vehicle who was identified as Sarah Decatur, age 27, of Rapid City.  The vehicle was towed from the scene, and during the vehicle inventory several drug related items were located to include methamphetamine, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia.  Mr. Chavez was charged with Obstructing, Distribute/Manufacture of Controlled Substance, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Driving without a License, Failure to Obey Traffic Signal, and Eluding.  Ms. Decatur was charged with Distribute/Manufacture of Controlled Substance, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
