When you’re in the studio, you assume that the microphone is ALWAYS on. It’s the golden rule in broadcasting. Mets broadcaster Keith Hernandez learned that the hard way when calling a game last night.
Hernandez assumed that they were in a commercial break and was commenting on the performance of Washington Nationals pitcher Tanner Roark, who’s been having trouble in his past few starts. Responding to the play-by-play guy in the booth, Hernandez said that Roark has been “getting his t*ts lit.”
It’s really a shame that word is not allowed on TV. It’s a fantastic word. It’s very descriptive and everyone knows exactly what Hernandez is saying with his comment!
