At around 10:50 p.m. on July 4th, police were dispatched to the intersection of 5th Street and Omaha Street for a report of a car vs. pedestrian crash. The pedestrian, who was determined to be highly intoxicated at the time of the crash, was transported to the hospital with minor injuries. After speaking to witnesses, police determined that the involved-vehicle was headed east on Omaha Street and had a green light to proceed through the intersection at 5th Street. The pedestrian then stepped into the roadway from the east side of the intersection, causing the collision. It appears as though the pedestrian’s intoxication was a significant factor in the incident.
