Assault

On July 17th at around 5:05 p.m., police responded to Roosevelt Park for a report of an assault. The reporting party informed police that they had witnessed a male assault a female in the area and the suspect was fleeing the area. Police located the suspect, later identified as 24-year-old Brian Ghost of Rapid City, walking in the area of 210 E. North Street. As police made contact with Ghost, he refused repeated commands to stop. The officer was able to bring him to the ground, and after a brief struggle, placed him into handcuffs. He then made repeated threats to kill the officer. As he was being walked to a patrol car, Ghost attempted to head-butt the officer. Eventually, Ghost was secured in the WRAP safety restraint system before being transported to the Pennington County Jail. During a search of his belongings prior to booking, police located a baggy with a substance which field-tested positive for methamphetamine. Over the course of the investigation, it was determined that Ghost had assaulted another female in the area of 220 E. Saint Joseph Street. Ultimately he was arrested for two counts of Simple Assault, Resisting Arrest, Threatening a Law Enforcement Officer, and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
