A man in Doylestown, OH is crediting, of all things, his prosthetic leg with saving his life after falling overboard while fishing recently!
On Monday night, Adam Shannon was fishing on Dohner Lake when he accidentally fell overboard into about 14 feet of water. Normally, this wouldn’t be a huge deal, but Shannon lost his leg in an accident with a drunk driver about a year ago and has a prosthetic leg, no doubt hampering his swimming ability a bit. Luckily for Shannon, though, his prosthetic got stuck in his pants and filled with air, thereby making it a flotation device!
Shannon was able to call 911 and the dispatcher was able to triangulate his location. He began yelling for help and his screams were heard by a family that lives on the lake. After hopping in their boat and heading to his location, they were able to pull him from the water!
Shannon probably never imagined that his prosthetic leg, which he had because of an accident that nearly killed him, would end up saving his life!
