Foot Pursuit/Taser Deployment

On August 20th around 11:15 p.m., police observed a passenger vehicle which did not have its license plate properly illuminated. A traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle, and it came to a stop in the area of E. Signal Drive and Crescent Drive. Police made contact with the driver and advised them of the stop. As police worked to positively identify the occupants, it became clear that the male in the front passenger seat was attempting to hide his identity. He was ultimately identified as 27-year-old Clarence Ferris of Rosebud. Ferris had an active fugitive warrant for his arrest. Police made contact with Ferris and he refused to get out of the vehicle. As police attempted to remove Ferris from the car, he attempted to run from the scene. A physical struggle with officers resulted, and an officer deployed his Taser in order to gain compliance from Ferris. Police were able to gain enough control over Ferris to handcuff him. A search of the vehicle turned up a syringe and jeweler’s baggies located near where Ferris was seated. The baggies field-tested positive for methamphetamine. Ferris was placed under arrest for Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Impersonation to Deceive Law Enforcement, his Fugitive Warrant, and a Parole Violation.
