Warrant Subject Assist/K9 Apprehension

On August 18th at around 7:45 p.m., police responded to 220 E. Saint Joseph Street for a report of a fugitive suspect wanted by the U.S. Marshals Service identified as 24-year-old Elias Lapointe of Rapid City. As police investigated, they learned Lapointe had fled the residence on foot to a nearby hill south of E. Kansas City Street. A K9 unit was called to track the suspect. The police K9 located Lapointe hiding in a dugout area surrounded by tall grass. The K9 detained Lapointe by barking, and Lapointe complied. Police took him into custody for his Fugitive Warrant and transported him to the Pennington County Jail.
