Employee at Jewel Osco Stops Down Money Order Scam (Video)

Jewel Osco employee, Jan Gallagher, showed off her quick-thinking when she immediately shut down a money order scam.

The “Grandparent Scam” apparently is fairly common with money order centers. What happens is someone calls pretending to be a grandchild in distress, needing money for bail or something. The elderly person then goes into the center saying they need to send money to bail someone out.

That is what happened here, luckily Gallagher looked into it more and decided to call an officer to the store. Apparently it happens often at this Jewel Osco because when the officer answered the phone he practically immediately said “Oh is there a scam?”

Be careful out there everyone and always question your grandkids.
