At around 12:30 a.m. on September 10th, an officer observed a passenger vehicle make an improper left turn in the area of E. North Street and N. Lacrosse Street. A traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle and the car came to a stop in the area of N. Lacrosse Street and E. Monroe Street. The officer made contact with the occupants and identified the passenger as 23-year-old Tyler Nelson of Sturgis. As the officer ran Nelson’s information, the officer learned Nelson had an active warrant for his arrest. The officer then observed Nelson flee from the vehicle on foot. Nelson’s description and direction of travel were called out over the radio. A K9 unit arrived at the location and quickly began tracking the suspect. The K9 tracked Nelson to a yard in the 700 block of E. Madison Street. Nelson was taken into custody and placed under arrest for Obstruction and his Warrant.
