At 4:49 p.m. on September 13th, the Rapid City Police Department and Rapid City Fire Department were dispatched to a single vehicle rollover crash near the Rapid Creek bridge at West Omaha and Mountain View Road. A four door passenger car hit the bridge at a high rate of speed and left the roadway. The vehicle came to rest near the bike path by Rapid Creek in the 2100 block of West Omaha Street.
Prior to the crash, the vehicle had been involved in collisions with two other passenger vehicles traveling in the area. The vehicle struck two vehicles in the area of Deadwood Avenue and West Chicago Street and then proceeded eastbound towards the bridge at a high rate of speed. Nobody else was injured as a result of these collisions.
The driver of the vehicle was found deceased at the scene. The identity of the driver is being withheld until next of kin can be notified.
