Warrant Subject

On September 28th around 12:45 a.m., police observed a black Mercedes SUV pulling into the parking lot of 10 Surfwood Drive. The officer identified this vehicle as similar in description to a vehicle belonging to known warrant subject 34—year-old James Grap of Rapid City. Police approached the vehicle in order to make contact with the driver and recognized him as Grap. He was asked to step out of the vehicle, and upon exit, Grap took off running from the location. After a foot pursuit, Grap was apprehended behind a house in the 1600 block of Herman Street. He was placed in handcuffs, and a search of his person turned up a small baggie containing a white substance which field-tested positive for methamphetamine. Grap was placed under arrest for Possession of a Controlled Substance, Obstruction, and his two Warrants. It was later determined that the license plates on the Mercedes did not belong with the vehicle. Grap was additionally arrested for the offence of Substitution of License Plates.
