On October 5th around 8:40 a.m., police were dispatched to 1601 Haines Avenue for a report of a female behaving erratically with a sledgehammer and a knife. Police made contact with the female, later identified as 39-year-old Jodene Roach of Rapid City, in the area of Curtis Street and Haines Avenue. Officers observed she had a hand saw in one hand and a sledgehammer in the other. She was ordered to drop both weapons and did so. She did not comply with officer commands to get on the ground. Officers were able to restrain her and place her into handcuffs. A search of her person turned up a small bag containing a white crystal substance which field-tested positive for methamphetamine. She was placed under arrest for Disorderly Conduct and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
