After a 44-year opioid addiction, 61-year-old Ronald Hiers has now been sober for a whole year.
On October 3, 2016, Hiers and his wife were captured on video having passed out because of a heroin overdose. The video was then posted on social media and quickly went viral. Hiers’ daughter saw the video, reached out to him, and wanted to help.
Hiers has now been sober for a year, reconnected with his family, especially his estranged daughter, and the only thing he regrets is he “didn’t do it sooner.”
