911 Call

At around 6 p.m. on October 20th, police responded to 324 E. Adams street after a male called dispatch, said he needed help, and hung up. On arrival, police observed two individuals, a male and a female, walking away from the address. A witness on scene indicated these individuals were the ones causing problems. The responding officer was approaching the subjects when they took off running. The officer was able to catch up to the male subject, later identified as 28-year-old Julian Yellowboy of Rapid City, and attempted to detain him. As the officer wrestled with Yellowboy on the ground, the female, identified as 25-year-old Margaret Eaglehunter of Pierre, began to strike the officer in the face. An associate of the suspects was able to pull Eaglehunter off of the officer long enough for the officer to get back on his feet. The officer Tasered Yellowboy and placed him in handcuffs. The associate was able to hold Eaglehunter long enough for the officer to place her into handcuffs as well. Other officers arrived and took over efforts to get the two suspects under control. The assaulted officer was taken to Rapid City Regional Hospital for evaluation of injuries sustained in the altercation. Both Yellowboy and Eagle Hunter were placed under arrest for the offences of Obstruction, Resisting Arrest, Simple Assault on Law Enforcement, and a Parole Hold. Yellowboy was also placed under arrest for an active Warrant.
