It’s Halloween and we all know the feeling of wanting to get the best candy possible to hand out for trick or treaters! Part of you wants to for your own eating pleasure while you sneak pieces for yourself while another part doesn’t want to be cleaning egg off your siding on November 1st!
People get pretty worked up when voting or debating in favor of their favorite candies, so thankfully FiveThirtyEight compiled all kinds of data to see how some of our favorite candies stacked up when put head-to-head with each other.
Throughout a whole process of researching sugar content, what types of attributes make a candy more enjoyable like crispiness or creaminess, price, and whether or not it is in bar form.
By the end of the process it was found that Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and the multiple variations of them had the highest “win percentage.”
Then, it got the writers thinking what would make the most perfect “Frankencandy” which would end up, based on their data and rankings, as chocolate of a Hershey bar, nougat of a Baby Ruth, caramel of a Milky Way, peanut butter of a Reese’s Cup and the cookie part of a Twix.
Honestly, it sounds pretty fantastic and we will definitely be taking all this information to heart when we go to the store the day after Halloween for all the half-off candy.
