Weapons Call

On November 22nd at around 3:15 a.m., police responded to the area of East Boulevard Omaha Street after it was reported that a suspect pointed a gun at another person during a dispute in the area of North Maple Street and Anamosa Street. The suspect had departed the scene in a passenger vehicle. Police located a vehicle matching the description of the suspect vehicle and made a felony-level traffic stop in the area of Omaha Street and I-190.  Two occupants were ordered out of the vehicle. The driver would be identified as 33-year-old Dustin Eck of Rapid City, and the passenger would be identified as 29-year-old Tate Hoffman of Rapid City. Both were detained in handcuffs. A search of the vehicle turned up a handgun, a glass pipe, and a large amount of white pills that would later be identified as Xanax (a controlled substance). As the investigation into the incident progressed, Eck was ultimately placed under arrest for Aggravated Assault, Commission of a Felony with a Firearm, Concealed Weapon without a Permit, Ingestion of a Controlled Substance, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Hoffman would be placed under arrest for Distribution of a Controlled Substance(after it was determined the pills belonged to her), Ingestion of a Controlled Substance, and a Warrant.
