It was announced yesterday that New York Giants’ quarterback Eli Manning will be benched this Sunday, with backup Geno Smith starting in his place. This is the first time in 211 games that he will not be starting, which is currently the longest streak in the league.
Yesterday, Manning was answering questions from reporters about being benched, and it was obvious that he was holding back tears while talking about it. And can you really blame him?
