A man who spends his time protecting people and their homes from fires, has lost his in the California fires.
“I’ve watched people my whole career sift through things and I feel for them,” said fire captain Tom Lanski after seeing his scorched home.
Heartbreakingly enough, while he was doing an interview with Lester Holt, his wife came by and saw the damage for the very first time.
Luckily the family was able to safely evacuate with their most important belongings but after the fire settled, everything that could be saved barely covered the bed of a truck.
Holt also pointed out the day of the fire was Lanski’s 49th birthday.
The world needs more people like Lanski, it’s just a shame it has to come at such an unfortunate cost.
Despite losing everything, Lanski has relocated his family, they are settling in and Lanski is ready to get back out.
