Traffic Stop

On December 31st at around 9:50 p.m., police observed a vehicle travelling eastbound (the wrong way) on Main Street in downtown area. The observing officer activated his emergency lights, and the vehicle turned around in front of him before coming to a stop in front of 512 Main Street. The driver exited the vehicle and ran from the scene. A police K9 team was also in the area and positioned itself to make contact with the fleeing suspect. On contact with the K9 team, the suspect became compliant and was taken into custody without incident. The suspect is identified as 30-year-old Justin Livermont of Wall. He was placed under arrest for the wrong-way violation and Obstruction. He was transported to the Pennington County Jail.
