Jeopardy! Contestant Loses $3,200 For Pronouncing ‘Gangsta’ As ‘Gangster’ (Video)

Details matter. That’s what one Jeopardy! contestant learned recently when he slightly mispronounced the name of Coolio’s 1995 hit “Gangsta’s Paradise.” The answer to the question was “Gangsta’s Paradise Lost,” however Whitey McWhiterson said “Gangster” instead.

Initially, the answer was accepted, but later in the episode, Alex Trebek announced that producers had decided that “gangster” and “gangsta” were indeed different words, therefore the points were taken away from the contestant.

Coolio then stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live! to clear up any misunderstanding.
