Most people wouldn’t consider writing an obituary for their recently departed pet, but then again, most people didn’t have a pet chicken named “Big Mama.”
When Big Mama passed, her College Station, TX family didn’t feel right just letting it pass without any sort of announcement. So they wrote an obituary and had it published in the local newspaper. The obituary talks of how they came to know Big Mama. Her original owner kept her indoors, so Big Mama didn’t know the joys of living outside, being a part of a flock. After nearly being euthanized, Big Mama was adopted by her new owners, who let her live the life every chicken deserves to live. Sadly, though, Big Mama’s time in this life came to an end. So her mourning family saw it fit to honor her with the fantastic obituary you can read below.
