Pursuit

At around 2:55 a.m. on January 25th, police observed a minivan speeding westbound on Anamosa Street. A traffic stop was initiated on the vehicle, but it did not stop. Police pursued the vehicle for several blocks around this general area. The minivan proceeded north on Hailey Avenue and turned west onto Anamosa (through the construction zone). The vehicle drove off the road to avoid barricades on the west end of the construction area. The vehicle caused significant damage to an electrical box in the area of Anamosa Street and Midway Street.  With no safe way to continue pursuing the vehicle, the pursuit was terminated. Officers continued to search the area and located a fluid spill trail which led them to the suspect vehicle. The minivan was located parked, unoccupied in a yard in the 300 block of Wright Street. Other officers in the area located two subjects running south in the area of Haines Avenue and Curtis Street. These individuals were positively identified as the occupants of the minivan during the pursuit. The suspect driver is identified as 18-year-old Terrell Tayle of Rapid City. Police noted the strong smell of an alcoholic beverage coming from Tayle’s person. Tayle was placed under arrest for DUI, Aggravated Eluding, Leaving the Scene of an Accident, and Driving without a License. He was transported to the Pennington County Jail.
