These brothers in New Orleans have started their own, I guess we could call it a LARP club and it is becoming the latest hobby you’ll want to get in on (probably not).
LarpWorks creates a community for Live Action Role Play which means people dress up and role play as characters from certain fantasy stories and lands.
Weapons are even made to make this activity even more fun! Of course they don’t use real swords, they’re actually made of PVC pipe and foam.
The brothers and participants say that LARPing is a form of creativity through chapters or “games” or “books.”
Now don’t be fooled, LARPing is not just for socially awkward nerds and children, according to one of the brothers it is, “a challenging mental, social, and physical experience, for adults. We deal with more adult themes than one might expect. The stories are much more ‘Game of Thrones’ and much less ‘Chronicles of Narnia’, so uncomfortable topics will be encountered. Not to understate, the physical aspect of LARPing, it is almost like participating in a fantasy combat sport, so taking good care of oneself is essential to having a good time.”
