Georgia Mom Charges Her Daughter Rent To Teach Responsibility (Video)

Atlanta mother, Essence Evans, explained recently in a Facebook post that she gives her 5-year-old daughter a $7 allowance each week but is also “charging” her rent and bills.

Out of that $7, Evans says she charges her daughter $1 each for rent, water, electricity, food and water. The bills total about $5 which gives her $2 to do whatever she would like with.

“I explained to her that in the real world most people spend most of their paycheck on bills with little to spend on themselves,” said Evans.

Before you get your panties in a wad over it, though, Evans says that the $5 she gets back from her daughter is actually put into a savings account her daughter will be able to use when she turns 18.

We wonder what her lesson on student loans will be like, taking the $5 and lighting it on fire and then charging interest seems pretty equivalent.
