A couple weeks back, WWE CEO Vince McMahon announced that the XFL, the short-lived WWE spinoff football league, is returning in 2020. The league only lasted one season, and one of the only things that people actually remember about it is how players were allowed to put nicknames on the back of their jerseys, instead of their actual last name. Rod Smart’s “He Hate Me” is perhaps the most remembered of the nicknames.
In honor of the XFL returning, Sports Illustrated asked players from the Eagles and Patriots during media week at the Super Bowl what their XFL-style jersey names would be. Some are creative. Some, eh, not so much.
